How Do I Get Saved?
Contrary to popular belief, there is no magical prayer to become a Christian. Becoming a Christian through God's process known as salvation is actually quite simple in concept. In fact, Acts 16:31 says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved..." But what does it mean to believe...?
In a nutshell, it means that you admit to God that you are a sinner, and because of your sin, you have been separated from a holy God in both this life and in eternity. But God, because of His infinite love toward you "...while you were yet a sinner..." (Romans 5:8), sent His only son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for you to take on Himself the penalty of your sin.
In doing so, Jesus took on God's wrath, which was against your sin, so that you can benefit from the riches of His mercy and grace, and no longer be separated from God. If you accept this free gift, you get to call God your Father and in turn, He can now call you His son or daughter.
To accept or reject this gift is a question that each of us must make in this life time, and that decision has eternal consequences.
What We Believe
Calvary Chapel of Hammonton is a fellowship of believers, dedicated to bringing honor and glory to God through all that we do.
We realize that no matter what happens in our lives, we believe it happens for our good and God's glory.
Our reason for existence is to love, worship, and bring glory to God.
Our heart's desire is to help one another build deeper relationships with God, as well as with each other.
We are called to be witnesses of God's mercy and grace, and make disciples of Christ.
We know that looking for a new church is a very personal (and sometimes daunting) undertaking. Calvary Chapel of Hammonton strives to make things easier by giving you all the information you may need to assist you in making that decision.
How to Grow
Just like our bodies can't grow without food and water, so our spirit can't grow without prayer and the Word of God. Both of these elements are absolutely vital to the growth of every Christian.
If you're saying to yourself that you have a hard time understanding the Bible, don't worry - God has provided a solution. Sitting under the preaching of the Word of God is a great way to begin to learn what the Bible says, and how to understand it when you read it. In fact, the Bible says in Romans 10:17, "...faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Coming to church is more than just an act of tradition, it is the vehicle by which God speaks to us through the preaching and teaching of His Word. It is also a place where we can encourage others and be encouraged by others.
Growing as a Christian requires us be faithful in these areas. Only through faithfulness can we truly "...grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 3:18)
